Notes for Margaret Lewis DU PONT

Margaret duPont Smith, 79, of Bryn Mawr, a former antiques show executive, died of complications from lung cancer Sunday at home.
Her father, the late Henry B. duPont Jr., was a vice president and director of DuPont Co.
Raised in Wilmington, Mrs. Smith graduated from Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Va., in 1948; made her debut the same year at a small dance given by her parents; and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Her 1950 marriage to Edgar Newbold Smith of Seaford, Del., took place in Christiana Hundred, Del.
Mrs. Smith was cochair of the annual Philadelphia Antiques Show in 1977 and '78, and was its advisory committee chair for several years. In 1979, she was cochair for the annual Academy of Music Anniversary Concert and Ball.
Mrs. Smith was on the board of the Academy of Music, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Community Clothes Charity in Wayne, and Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut. She was also a director of Atlantic Aviation, a family firm sold in the 1990s that is now a servicer of private and corporate jets and has its headquarters in Plano, Texas.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband; sons Stockton, Lewis, and Henry; daughter Eleuthera Grassi; a brother; three grandchildren; and a nephew.
The funeral was set for 11 a.m. today in the chapel of St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 S. Valley Forge Rd., Wayne. Burial will be private.
