Notes for Jesse H. LEWIS

In 1861 while attending school in MO., he joined the Confederate Army serving 18 months before being captured by Federal soldiers. He was Publisher/editor of the following newspapers "Lyndon Signal" in KS., "Alamosa Sentinal" in CO and "The Creede News" in CO. Appointed by Gov. Waite of Colorado in 1894 & 1895 at the Colorado State Penitentiary in an official position. Elected Mineral County Judge in 1895 and held that position until his death on 7/21/1905. He also ran a lumber business shortly after coming to Colorado in 1875.
