Notes for Charles Wistar WOOD
A memorial service for Charles Wistar Wood, 68, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Radnor Friends Meeting House, Conestoga and Sproul Roads.
Mr. Wood, a former Chestnut Hill real estate broker, died Dec. 2 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was born in Philadelphia. He attended Germantown Friends School and Swarthmore College, and served in the Army Medical Corps in Panama during World War II.
After the war, Mr. Wood founded a real estate business in Chestnut Hill that he operated for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Wood was born into an old Quaker family and was active in the faith.
He was a member of the Chestnut Hill Community Association.
Mr. Wood, a traveler and sailor, vacationed regularly in Florida and fell in love with the Coconut Grove section of Miami. He retired to Florida in 1979 and lived on various sailboats and houseboats that he owned.
He is survived by sons, Charles Cresson and Urquhart Ansley; a stepson, Christian Raphael; and two brothers.
