Notes for Anthony HAINES
Anthony was a successful farmer in Manchester area of what is now Carroll County, Md. He and his brother Michael were part of a group of Palatines who migrated from Pennsylvania to Maryland because they were being oppressed in York County, Pa. They were part of a religious sect called Augsburg Confession, a Protestant statement of faith first approved by Martin Luther in 1530.
Anthony purchased "Hawkins Fancy" in 1766, a farm of 277 acres. He also owned 405 acres in Frederick County, Md named "The Five Daughters".
Anthony took the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 before Hon. Edward Cockey.
