Notes for Charles GORSUCH

Charles emigrated 1658 to Virginia. He left Virginia to avoid persecution as a Quaker, and Came to Maryland. Charles Gorsuch had surveyed "Whetstone Point", 50 acres comprising that part of the present city of Baltimore now occupied in part by Fort McHenry. Upon this tract a town, Whetstone Neck, was laid out in 1706. This was 22 years before Baltimore Town was founded, and was the first town erected within the present limits of Baltimore City.
