MARTHA MEREDITH5 (Samuel4, Reese3, John Carpenter2, Samuel1), born 1773; died about 1816; married June 25, 1796, JOHN READ, born July 17, 1769, in Newcastle, Del., died July 1, 1854, son of George Read, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife, Gertrude, daughter of the Rev. George Ross.
