Notes for Charles Tyson Jr. YERKES

Charles T. Yerkes, was a businessman who has made his fortune financing
Chicago's electric railway system.
In 1897 Charles Tyson Yerkes presented to the University of Chicago the
largest telescope ( of that time ).
Yerkes crater on the moon is named in his honor.
In 1881 Yerkes traveled to Fargo in the Dakota Territory in order to obtain a divorce from his wife of over twenty-two years. Later that year, he wedded
the 24-year-old Mary Adelaide Moore and moved to Chicago.
