Notes for William Jr. HOFFMAN
He graduated from West Point Military School in 1829. He fought in the War with Mexico. He was captured and held prisoner in Texas at the beginning of the Civil War and was eventually traded and released and was appointed Commissary General of Prisoners in Washington, D. C. Eventually retired a Brevetted Major-General in 1870 and moved to Rock Island. No record of marriage or children.
