Joseph A. Panik, 80, of 22 Pleasant View Ave., Willow Street, died Tuesday at the Mennonite Home.
Born in Allentown, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Margaret Budzak Panik.
Joseph was married 48 years to M. Elizabeth ( Betty) Worrest Panik.
Mr. Panic was Pilot Plant Supervisor and Lab Tech of Research and Development for the General Cigar Company for 30 years and retired in 1989. He served in the navy during World War II.
Mr. Panik was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharist Minister, served on Parish Council, and sang in the Assumption choir.
He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus #967 and a member of American Legion #34 and Strasburg VFW.
Surviving besides his wife and two daughters: Kathleen Makowski, of New Castle, Del., and Susan, wife of Gerald Stanek, of Lancaster, Pa.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters: Anna, wife of Stuart Carl, Veronica, wife of Andrew Katrinak, and Elizabeth, wife of John Gallaghter, all of Bethlehem, Pa., and Mildred, wife of Benjamin Fliszer, of Allentown, Pa.; and a brother, George Panik of Allentown, Pa.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary McLaughlin and Margaret Harakai.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince Street, Lancaster, Pa. on Saturday at 12:00 noon. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.
There will be no viewing or visitation before Mass.
