Notes for John BROOME

JOHN BROME, Colonel, b. 1749; d. 1778; was vestryman of Christ Church, Calvert County; he signs himself Captain in 1774, and takes the vestryman's oath to support the colonies against England; was a member of the Committee of Observation, [p.38] 1774-75; Member of Provincial Convention held at Annapolis, also Member of Council of Safety; was commissioned Colonel in 1776; this commission is in the possession of one of his descendants; m. 1774 Betty Heigh GANTT, dau. of Thomas, Jr., and Susanna (MACKALL) GANTT.
