Notes for Charlotte PATTERSON
Charlotte Patterson Pusey, 77, a master gardener and lifelong resident of the Washington area, died Monday at Montgomery Village Care and Rehabilitation. She had Alzheimer's disease.
Mrs. Pusey was born in the District and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and George Washington University, where she was president of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a niece of Alice Deal, for whom the junior high school in Northwest is named. After graduating with honors from GW, she worked briefly at the Brookings Institution before joining IBM as a systems representative. She left IBM to raise her family.
She was a master gardener with the Montgomery County Extension Service, working at the Saturday plant clinics for many years at Davis Library in Bethesda. She also was a longtime volunteer and officer with Meals on Wheels of Wheaton and an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lewis B. Pusey Jr. of Potomac; a daughter, Carolyn, of Montgomery Village, an assistant Metro editor at The Washington Times; twin sons, Robert Pusey of Alexandria and Lt. Col. Edward Pusey of Fort Belvoir; a sister, Priscilla Jamieson of Laguna Beach, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, Leigh Ann Pusey and Pamela Pusey; and two granddaughters, Laura Campbell and Anna Leigh Pusey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 1 at Christ Episcopal Church, 107 S. Washington St., Rockville. Burial will be at 10 a.m. April 5 at the Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.
