Notes for Benjamin FURBEE
On February 12, 1721 Michael Lowber deeded 100 acres called Furby's Lott to Benjamin and Susannah on Double Run, about 8 miles from Dover. It was part of the Southampton tract he had bought from Daniel Rutty. The land remained in the family for almost 100 years.
On August 10, 1724 Benjamin bought from Andrew Caldwell for 10 pounds a parcel lying between the land of William Mifflin and a branch of Murderkill Creek called the Two Runs (later Double Run), previously sold to Caldwell by MIchael Lowber.
Benjamin was a "Squire" and the owner/operator of "King George's Inn". His wife, Susanna, was the granddaughter of Peter Lowber, who with his family sailed from Amsterdam Holland, and settled seven miles south of Dover, Delaware, in 1684. Benjamin was a prminent businessman in his community, however, it was hort lived dieing (approximately) in his 30's.
