Notes for William ATLEE
William - founder of the family in America
His story: March 1733, left England for Barbados as private Secretary for Lord Howe. Married while in Barbados: June 1, 1734 to Jan Alcock, daughter of an English clergyman. She is said to have been a maid of the queen. She ran away to Barbados to marry young William. She died in Lancaster, PA Jan. 18, 1777
Arrived in Philadelphia circa 1734
First lived on Second St., the principal residential street in the city Second lived in part of house owned by Caleb Ranstead on High or Market St.
Third, moved family to Trenton NJ where he is said to have had supervision of the mail transportation
Returned to Philadelphia to Ranstead's house where he died April 24, 1744.
