US Naval Captain, served with honor under Perry in the Mexican War and was distinguished in the Civil War for his valor.

from the notes of Donald W. Lamm: Dominick Lynch was a Captain in the U.S. Navy. He fought under Perry in the Mexican War and was also in the Civil War. According to a family story, he commanded the vessel in which Lincoln went to Richmond after the war and the children recall trying on Lincoln's hat while he was at dinner.
