This must be the Joel from Alton; his mother and father John and Elizabeth Bean also appeared to have been on the train. Brother John and his wife and sister Hannah Bean Tebbets and husband Charles also went. His sister was Elizabeth R. Bean, although her husband's name is not mentioned in the MacBean Record, she probably went as well. Joel taught in a private school Iowa. Muscatine, Iowa was a Quaker colony.
