Account Representative
Lewis Barron Pusey Jr., 85, who spent 26 years at Pitney Bowes Inc. before retiring in 1980 as a government account representative, died of pancreatic cancer Feb. 22 at his home in Potomac.
In retirement, Mr. Pusey took art classes at Montgomery College in Rockville. He was an amateur printmaker, a member of the Rockville Art League and a docent at Glenview Mansion in Rockville.
Mr. Pusey was born near Boston and grew up in Montgomery County. He was a graduate of Bethesda-Chevy (Chase) High School and attended George Washington University.
He served in the Army Air Forces in North Africa and Italy during World War II.
Mr. Pusey did sales work for Aetna life insurance before joining Pitney Bowes and then spent two years in sales at Standard Graphics.
His memberships included Christ Episcopal Church in Rockville. His wife of 50 years, Charlotte Patterson Pusey, died in 1999.
Surivors include a daughter, Carolyn Pusey of Montgomery Village, two sons, Robert Pusey and Army Lt. Col. Edward Pusey, both of Alexandria, a brother, Charles Sloan Pusey of Bethesda; and two grandchildren."
Lewis was a sixth-great grandson of John Pusey and Frances (Lnuk?) of London, England. John and his brother Caleb bought land from William Penn in Chester County, Pa. in the late 1600's. Caleb Pusey emigrated to Pennsylvania but John stayed in London. John's sons, William and Caleb (Jr.) eventually joined their uncle Caleb and were the origins of many (not all) of the Puseys in the U.S.
