Notes for Abraham Liddon COX
ABRAHAM LIDDON5 COX, M. D.,--b. New York, Nov. 23, 1799; d. at Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, July 28, 1864; an eminent physician; resigned his large and lucrative practice in New York, at the beginning of the Civil War, and became a surgeon in the army; was promoted to be Surgeon-in-chief of a division; was with the Army of the Cumberland at the time of his death which was hastened by the labor and exposure incident to the active campaigns of that army; m. Feb. 17, 1825, Abby Ann, daughter of William and Mary Newbold.
Children: i. Mary Newbold, ii. Elizabeth, iii. James, iv. John Newbold, v. Abraham Liddon, vi. William Augustus, vii. Isabella Liddon.
