Notes for Betty Jean HULL
Betty H. Gayley of Ithaca died of cancer Thursday at Tompkins Community Hospital.
Mrs. Gayley lived in the New York City area and Swarthmore, Pa., before moving to Ithaca in 1969. She was an interior decorator with Bloomingdale's in New York City. After coming to Ithaca, Mrs. Gayley planned the redecoration of almost all the public areas of the Tompkins County Trust Co. in the Ithaca area. She was a 1939 graduate of Skidmore College.
Mrs. Gayley was chairman of the civic development committee of the Ithaca Garden Club and involved with the moving of Birling Woods to the Cayuga Nature Center and the planning of the garden at Tompkins Community Hospital.
Surviving are her husband, Henry; three daughters, Lady Nancy Kenny of Oxford, England, Stephanie Morris of Standish, Maine, and Sandra Thayer of Spring Valley, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
