Notes for William Henry COLE

William Cole was a printer and writer. During World War II he did much of the top secret government printing needs in the Delaware area and had top secret security clearance. He was also dating a woman who was later found to be a Russian spy. After she was arrested and deported and he was cleared of ever passing any secrets to her, he then became a paranoid schizophrenic. He never married or dated again. He was doing ok with the illness until June of 1953. One evening he and his mother had an argument and he told her he would never speak to her again. He never did either. He had left his mother a note telling her to wake him up in the morning. The following morning, Sam woke up Bill by having to tell him that their mother had a massive heart attack and died early that morning.

After that, Bill continued to deteriorate rate and ended up spending the rest of his life in the Delaware State Hospital for the Mentally Ill. That was where he died in 1970 of a massive heart attack himself. He is buried in Newark Cemetery, next to his mother and father.
