Notes for Tolbert Alexander COLE

Tolbert Cole was employed at Curtis Paper Company in Newark Delaware for a number of years. He was also a carpenter by trade and added a large section onto the house at 48 Choate Street.

It is reported in his obituary that he worked for 29 years at the Continental Diamond Fiber Company as a tube maker in the dilecto department. I was told by both mom and dad that he had also worked at Curtis Paper Mill. This may have been a second job or something. I have no confirmation on it yet.

He was admitted to the Memorial Hospital in Wilmington Delaware on March 21, 1949 for a blood clot. He was due to be discharged on March 31, but died at 5:45 am that morning. There was an autopsy done and the cause of death was listed as a Pulmonary Embolism. His funeral was held at Ira C. Shellender Funeral Home, in Newark Delaware. That is all that is known at the present time.
