Active in Fraternal groups

William Elmer Sharpless, 57, of 410 E. 3d st., died at 10:15 a. m. Sunday in Chester Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday at the Ray P. Imschweller establishment, 1000 Edgmont av., with burial in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Philadelphia.

Mr., Sharpless, a resident here for 50 years, was prominent in fraternal circles. He was a past president of the Chester Owls and an officer of Chester Elks.

He was a member of the Chester Elks band. An employee of Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. for 30 years, he had been associated with Sun Ship band for 28 years.

Mr. Sharpless, born in Manayunk on July 4, 1892, was a crane operator at the shipyard.

Survioving are his wife, Reba: two sons, George and Frank: two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Langdale and Mrs. Dorothy Smith, all of Chester: his mother, Mrs. Frank Mooney of Garden City: a brother, Matthew E. Sharpless, of Parkside, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Van Horn, of Norristown."
