Notes for Ann Phoebe WALKER

Ann Walker Bringhurst, 81, a retired teacher and longtime resident of the Kennett and West Chester areas, died Monday in Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland.
Born in Wilmington, Mrs. Bringhurst was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Delaware in 1930. In 1949 she returned to the university and, three years later, earned a master's degree in English.
She taught upper-school English at the Wilmington Friends School from 1933 to 1937 and from 1943 to 1944. She later taught English at Brandywine Junior College in Wilmington.
Mrs. Bringhurst was a resident of Crosslands Retirement Community in Kennett Square for the last 12 years. Before moving to Crosslands, she and her husband lived in West Chester for 25 years.
She was a Birthright member of the Society of Friends and a member of the Westtown Monthly Meeting.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Louis S. Bringhurst; a daughter, Patricia Reed; two grandchildren, and three great-granddaughters.
A memorial service was to be held today at 3 p.m. in Crosslands, Kennett Square.
