Notes for William Cyrus SPEAKMAN
William Cyrus Speakman, D.D.S.; the distinguished dental surgeon of Wilmington, Del., born Nov. 17, 1868, died Jan. 27, 1930. Major U.S.A., Lt. Col. Reserve Corps. Graduated University of Pennsylvania 1891, and practiced in Wilmington for 19 years. Was Connected with the Delaware Hospital for 35 years, being the father of the Dental Clinic there.
For services in France from the period from June, 1915 to the signing of the armistice, he received in 1928 from the French Government the Cross of the Legion of Honor. Previously he had received the Medaille Commemorative, the Victory Ribbon, the Verdun Medal, as well as the Croix de Guerre.
