Notes for Julia STOCKTON
In January 1776 17 yr old Julia Stockton married Benjamin Rush. She is the daughter of a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Stockton of New Jersey, and the wife of a signer-Benjamin Rush from Pennsylvania. She had born 13 children in her life, of them 3 daughters and six sons had survived. Her son William Rush MD (1801-1864) is buried near her with his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Julia Roberts Rush who died at 6 on July 6th 1834. Julia was (along with Sarah Franklin Bache) a member of the "Ladies Association", the leading fund raiser during the Revolutionary War.
