Notes for Samuel SHARPLESS

Note: There were twelve brothers in this family according to the pension record of the death of William Holmes Sharpless, the last surviving one of the 12.
Samuel Sharpless was a paper maker and was of New York state at the time of his marriage about 1803. According to the 1887 edition of the family genealogy he later came back to Pennsylvania, to Middletown Twp. and from thence removed to western Pennsylvania. At the time of the 1850 Federal census he was living in Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y. aged 73 and was a paper maker. Considerable data has been obtained from the pension records in the National Archives, Washington, D.C., but there is considerable work still to be done and descendants in this line are earnestly invited to correspond with the Chester County Historical Society, West Chester, Pa. as mentioned in the introduction to this book.
