Notes for Algernon Sidney BIDDLE
He studied at Dr. Faires' Classical Institute and was graduated from Yale in 1868. He later spent two semesters at the University of Berlin. He was admitted to the Philadelphia Bar in 1872. In 1874, he became president of the Law Academy and later served as Secretary of the Law Association of Philadelphia. At various times he served as editor of the Weekly Notes of Cases, The Law and Equity Reporter, and The American Law Register. In 1887 he was appointed to a professorship at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the American Philosophical Society, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and the Rittenhouse Club. At his death his law library was combined with that of his father, and donated to the University of Pennsylvania to form the George and Algernon Sydney Biddle Law Library.
