Notes for Maris HOOPES

At the outbreak of the Civil War he was appointed paymaster of volunteers, with rank of major, and remained in service about two and a half years. An obituary notice says that he, in company with Col. W. H.Wiley, built the Wilmington & Reading Railroad.
