Notes for Lincoln Ferguson TAYLOR
Lincoln (Pat) Ferguson Taylor, 74, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Key West Convalescent Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Ferguson and Edward Winslow Taylor Jr., of Philadelphia, Pa.; son Edward (Teddy) Winslow Taylor II; and brothers Edward W. Taylor III and Charles E. Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Esther Smith Taylor; his daughters Laura (Jim) Scherr of Boca Raton, Fla., and Lesley (Mike) Agosta of Wellington, Fla.; sister Lillian T. Van Pelt of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and half sister Nancy T. Doughterty of Vally Forge, Pa. Loving grandfather of Cody and Emily Scherr, and Michael and Erica Agosta.
Mr. Taylor was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on March 17, 1932. He attended Hebron Academy and Chester Hill Academy in Pennsylvania and the University of Florida. He joined the Navy in 1952 and was stationed on the USS Wisconsin for two years and Key West for his last two years of service, being honorably discharged here in 1956.
During his naval service, he received the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Service Medal and Navy Good Conduct Medal. Lincoln worked in the supply department, civil service, at the Naval Station and Naval Air Station, where he retired after 25 years.
Lincoln loved all the arts and especially music, movies and live theater. He was a board member of the Waterfront Playhouse and usher at the Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Garden Club and Orchid Society. He volunteered at Help Line and the Hospitality House for many years. He loved meeting people and considered many as friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Convalescent Center. The family also invites friends to a memorial celebration of Mr. Taylor's life at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Michael Heidle will officiate.
