Notes for Richard Cadbury BROWN
Richard C. Brown graduated from Westtown Boarding School in Chester Co., Pa, in 1894 and from Haverford College in 1897 and in 1900 received the degree of M. A. from Harvard University. He taught in several schools induding Wilmington College in Ohio, Westtown Boarding School, Bootham School in York, England and Sidwell School in Washington, D. C. For a time he was a proofreader for J. B. Lippincott and in the book department at Strawbridge and Clothier in Philadelphia, Pa, His last position was in the sales department erf the Philadelphia Quartz Co. Mr. Brown was on many committees of the Society erf Friends, serving as cleric of Moorestown (N. J.) Monthly Mtg. and as superintendent of the First Day School. He maintained
an active interest in the classics and read regularly in the Greek and Latin originals. He was familiar with all forms of nature and greatiy enjoyed camping.
