Charlotte May Sharpless was the founder of the West Chester Garden Club and a member of the Colonial Dames. She maintained a summer residence "Hillcrest" in Westtown Twp. as well as a home in West Chester, Pa, for many years at the southwest comer of Church and Dean Streets. She was a birthright member of the Sodety of Friends but became a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church.
