Notes for George L. LOYALL
LOYALL, L. George, representative, born in Norfolk, Va., May 29, 1789; son of George and Sarah (Willoughby) Loyall, and grandson of Paul Loyall, whose wife was Frances Newton, daughter of George and Alphea (Wilson) Newton. He was graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1808. He was a
representative in the Virginia legislature, 1817-27; a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1829, and a representative from Virginia in the 21st congress, as successful contestant for the seat of Thomas Newton. He served in the 21st congress from March 9, 1830, and in the 23d and 24th congresses, 1833-37. He was navy agent at Norfolk, Va., almost continuously, 1837-61. He died in Norfolk, Va., Feb. 24, 1868.
