Notes for Mary Ann CLEAVER
The Clevers were early settlers in Germantown.
Anna Maria Magdalena Clever (Mary Ann) spoke only German but understood English. Joseph spoke only English. She was extremely pious.
Joseph and Mary first lived in Annville, Lebanon County, moved to near Middletown in Dauphin County and in 1828, Paulser drove down to get them and brought them to Centre County to join the family already working for and with Philip Benner at the forge near Rock. (now Rockview). Joseph bought a home in Stormstown near Port Matilda and pursued work as a tailor and weaver.
1850 Centre Co Census of Half Moon Twp gives valuation of $500 to the house and lot owned by Mary A. Sellers, widow of Joseph Sellers.
