Catharine was the wife of the physician, botanist, and Congressman William Darlington. They married in 1808 and had eight children: John Lacey Darlington, Antis Lacey Darlington (1811-1820), Benjamin Smith Barton Darlington (1813-1845), Jane Darlington Evans, Edward C. Darlington (1821-1874), Catharine Lacey Darlington Parsons, Sarah Painter Darlington, and William Baldwin Darlington (1828-1878).
