Alice Blackburn (Mathewson) "Skipper"
Age 85, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007, in Denver, CO.
After graduating from PS duPont HS, she received a BA from the University of Delaware, and a MA from Temple University. She was a teacher and later head of the Pre-School Dept. of The Tatnall School from 1950-1984. She enjoyed gardening, bridge, reading, traveling, visiting family and friends, and winters in Florida.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth R. and Frank L. Mathewson, Sr. She is survived by her sister, Jane M. Pyle, of Denver, CO, with whom she lived; her brother, William D. Mathewson and his wife, Mary Jane, of Wilmington, DE; her sister-in-law, Margaret M. Mathewson, of Wilmington, DE; her nephews, Frederick J Pyle and his wife, Barbara, of Denver, CO, William L Pyle and his wife, Ines, of Victoria, TX and James M. Pyle and his wife, Carolyn, of Lakewood, CO. She is pre-deceased by husband, Frederick J. Blackburn, Jr.; brother, Frank L. Mathewson, Jr.; and nephews, Thomas J Pyle and David W. Mathewson.
