Notes for Charles Klair JACKSON
Charles "Klair", age 89, of Wilmington, DE, joined his wife Mary in heaven on Wednesday, April 24, 2013
He was born in Bridgeville, DE to the late Florence (Klair) and Charles Jackson. Charles was an army veteran of WWII, where he received a Purple Heart in The Battle of Salerno, Italy. He worked at the DuPont Company for 41 years retiring as a senior designer draftsman in 1982. He was a longtime member of Marshallton United Methodist Church where he served on many boards and committees including superintendent of Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Men. Charles was an avid gardener but enjoyed the most, the time he spent with his family.
His wife Mary of 50 years died in 1996. He is survived by 3 children, Richard and his wife Polly of Virginia, Frances Johns and her husband Joe of Wilmington and Edward and his wife Ruth of Hockessin, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Charles was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Jackson and Margaret Brown.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Manor Care, Pike Creek, with special thanks to Annette Thomas.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 29 from 12 noon to 1 pm, with a funeral to follow at 1 pm at Marshallton United Methodist Church, 1105 Stanton Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Charles' name to the Marshallton United Methodist Church.
