Notes for Wilkinson Eves CRANSTON
DOVER, April 6--Wilkinson E. Cranston, 60, of this city, for 11 years supervisor of the Japanese beetle control work in Delaware, died tonight at the Kent General Hospital after undergoing an operation.
Mr. Cranston was an active member of the Grange and other farmers' organizations. For many years he had a farm near Stanton where he was born September 25, 1875. He was a former master of Delaware Grange, No. 46, at Newport.
For some years, after he became supervisor of the beetle project, he lived in New Castle, but had offices at 903 Shipley Street. About six years ago he and his family moved to Dover, when the office was transferred to the state capital.
After attending the public schools, Mr. Cranston was a student at Friend's School and Goldey College in Wilmington.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie E. Cranston of this city; a daughter, Mrs. Edna C. Millikin of Philadelphia, and a son, W. Rogers Cranston of Wilmington.
Among other organizations of which he was a member were Industry Lodge, Odd Fellows; St. John's Lodge, No. 2, A. F. and A. M.; Little Bear Tribe Red Men; Hare's Corner Farmers' Club and the State Road Community Club.
For many years he was a member of Christiana Presbyterian Church. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed, but interment will be at the Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington.
