GIRL DIED OF INJURIES
Miss Edith M. Tatnall Thrown From Cycle Car

Philadelphia, Sept. 22 -- Miss Edith M. Tatnall, a popular society girl of Haverford and niece of Vice President Tatnall of the Pennsylvania Railroad, died suddenly at her home Tuesday from a fractured skull, the result of an accident on Haverford Road two days ago.

On Sunday the young woman, who was an enthusiastic sportswoman, went out for a trial spin on her new motor-propelled bicycle. An hour or two later, an automobile drew up in front of the Tatnall home with the young woman in it. The driver of the automobile helped Miss Tatnall to alight. He then departed.

Members of the family say the young woman evidently was thrown headlong when her bicycle struck a stone or something in the road.

Miss Tatnall, who was 23 years old, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Tatnall of Millbrook avenue, Haverford. She was expert at golf and tennis and extremely fond of all outdoor sports. Sunday afternoon, she told her family that she was going out on a little spin down Haverford road. A little while later, she was brought home in the automobile. She walked from the automobile to the house unaided and told her family that she had been in a slight accident. Then she went to her room.

The next morning, she complained of a pain in her head. Her condition became serious, and the family sent for Dr. Frederick Sharpless. Several specialists were also called, and they found that the young woman's skull was fractured.

Even when the nature of her injury had been determined, physicians did not believe it was necessarily fatal. She became unconscious on Monday and died today.
