Notes for Rodman Richardson TATNALL

COOPERSTOWN — Rodman R. Tatnall, 92, most recently of Cooperstown and formerly of Laurens, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at the Bassett Healthcare Center in Cooperstown.
Rod was raised in Wayland, Mass. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and worked for Colorado Fuel & Iron, Wickwire Spencer Division, for 40 years in Worcester and Palmer, Mass., Buffalo, and Trenton, N.J. He retired in 1968.
Throughout his career, he was active in the Wire Association, American Society for Testing and Materials, and the American Society for Metals.
He and his wife retired to Westmoreland, N.H., where Rod became a gentleman farmer, and an involved citizen, serving as census taker, town clerk, town treasurer, school treasurer and town selectman. In 1984, he moved to Solon, Ohio, and in 1990, to Laurens, to live near his son and daughter.
Throughout his life, Rod was active in professional organizations, as well as the Masons, Lions Club, Worcester Community Chest, American Red Cross, the YMCA and the North Worcester Aid Society. He loved gardening, woodworking, chess, games, photography, various dogs, puzzles, reading and the challenge of investing.
Rod was predeceased by his wife, Amy (Taylor) Tatnall in 1977; a sister Catherine Dik; and a brother, George Tatnall.
Rod is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, R. Francis and Donna Tatnall of Newberry, Ohio, Peter and Marylou Tatnall of Marietta, Ga., and Sara and Charles Endress of Laurens; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
