Notes for Charles George HARTLEY
Graduated from dentistry in the U.S. and extended his studies in Meissen, Germany from 1910 to 1923 where he studied with the porcelain masters of the Meissen and Dresden factories. He introduced the artistry of porcelain crowns to dentistry and was dentist to Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and most of the royal households of Europe. He returned to the U.S. to become dentist to the movie stars of the 1920s though 1945 when he was injured in an automobile accident and subsequent surgeries caused him to lose the use of his right hand.
