Notes for Marjorie Murdoch STARR

FRAZIER MARJORIE STARR, died peacefully at her home in Devon, PA on December 11, 2016. She was 100 years old. She is survived by her sons, John W. Frazier IV and Charles S. Frazier, their wives Judy and Amanda, seven grandchildren (and the spouses of four of them), and six great-grand-children. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Frazier III.
Mrs. Frazier was educated at the Shipley School and Miss Porter's School. She spent a lifetime of service starting as a young girl volunteering to help organize after school programs in Philadelphia. During WWII, when her husband was overseas, she drove for the Red Cross. Later, as a board member of Broomall Convalescent Hospital, she was involved with the merger with Rosemont Presbyterian Village in 1958, subsequently serving on that organization's board for a number of years. During that same period of time, Mrs. Frazier helped get the Haverford School Thrift Shop up and running. Thereafter, she volunteered for many years at The Neighborhood League Shop in Wayne, until well into her nineties!
A life long lover of nature and of animals of every kind, Mrs. Frazier always had pets, mostly dogs and birds. In addition, over the years she cared for orphaned or wounded wild animals, including birds, rabbits, squirrels, and a raccoon, nursing them back to health.
She loved reading and many outdoor activities, including gardening, fishing, and camping, but most of all she loved her family and friends. She enjoyed being with them in the wilds of Canada, on the beach in New Jersey or simply at home. She enjoyed having her large family and close friends at her house each Christmas and Easter. She gave much love and was much loved.
A Memorial Service is planned for December 21, 2016 at the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Zoological Society of Philadelphia.
