Notes for Morris LLOYD
Morris Lloyd, 72, a retired investment banker, died Wednesday at a hospital in Easton, Md. He lived in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia.
A former partner in Drexel & Co., he spent his life in the financial world.
Educated at Montgomery Country Day School and St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H., he graduated from Princeton University in 1936 and accepted a post with Drexel. He remained with the firm, retiring in 1982 as senior vice president of Drexel Burnham Lambert.
He was a member of the board of managers of the Philadelphia Saving Fund Society, a former member of the board of trustees of the Philadelphia Community College and a member of the board of the Germantown & Norristown Railroad.
Mr. Lloyd was treasurer of Chestnut Hill Hospital, a member of the board of the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, and secretary and assistant treasurer of the Philadelphia Council of Boy Scouts.
He directed fund-raising campaigns for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.
He was a member of the Philadelphia Club, the Sunnybrook Golf Club, the Racquet Club, the Rabbit and the American Philosophical Society.
A former vestryman of St. Thomas Church in Whitemarsh, he was active with the Episcopal Church Foundation.
Surviving are his wife, Hope Starr Lloyd; sons, Morris Jr., Thomas, David and John S.; daughters, Mary Barlow and Hope Yates, and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 this afternoon at St. Thomas Church in Whitemarsh. Contributions may be made to Chestnut Hill Hospital.
