Notes for Mary Christine KELLEY

CHRISTINE K. MINEAR REIDSVILLE Mrs. Christine K. Minear, 85, of Reidsville, passed from this world at six o'clock on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013. Mrs. Minear was born on August 17th, 1928 in Kelsey City, Florida to the late Charles Christopher and Mary Cobb Kelley. She graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in music and later Appalachian State with a degree in education. She began her teaching career in Jupiter, Florida where she met her future husband, Nathan Laird Minear at his mother's dinner table. His mother invited the "new school teacher" to a meal at their home. They later married and lived in Florida until 1969 when they moved to High Point. She taught first grade at Fairgrove Elementary School in Davidson County where she spent her thirty-five year career in education. She volunteered with Communities in Schools in High Point and Meals on Wheels. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in High Point. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Rae Cobb Kelley and Buddy Kelley. Survivors include her son, Charles Laird Minear of High Point; one daughter, Anna Minear Micciulla and husband Robert of Reidsville; one granddaughter, Xiomara Elizabeth Micciulla also of Reidsville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Wilkerson Funeral Home. Rev. Erica Noell will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. An interment service will follow at 2 p.m. in Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local chapter of Communities in Schools.
