Notes for William II BIDDLE

WILLIAM BIDDLE, II, of “Mt. Hope,” New Jersey; b. 4th October, 1669, in London, England; d. at Mt. Hope, 1743; was like his father prominent in the affairs of West Jersey; appointed by the Council of Proprietors on 2d November, 1703, to treat with the Indians for lands above the Falls, and at his father's death inherited 12,905 acres of land in the "Lotting Purchase;" m. 13th December, 1691, in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, Lydia WARDELL, gd. dau. of Elialim WARDELL, who purchased lands at Newark of the Indians in 1666; was Sheriff of Monmouth, 1688, and Member of the General Assembly, 1692, gr. gd. dau. of Thomas WARDELL, a French Huguenot, who settled in New England about the middle of the seventeenth century.
