Notes for John Jr. STANFIELD
John Stanfield's will, written 17 Aug 1815, and proved 17 Apr 1816, Cumberland co,KY, specifically
mentions that he bought his 50 acres on Bear Creek in Cumberland County from William Cain and that he desires that William Cain buy the same back from his estate and pay the market value of the land out in 6 shares. One share to be retained by William Cain as his wife's share. His other children
namely Rebecca Cain, Samuel Stanfield, and Phillipina Scott each to receive one share and his youngest dau Lydia Rayfield to receive 2 shares. The two oldest children Mary Biddick & Thomas Stanfield received only nominal bequests having received their inheritance during their father's lifetime it is presumed.
The son Samuel Stanfield and son-in-law Absalom Scott were executors of the estate. From the final acounting of the administration recorded 16 Jul 1816, Will Bk B:28-29, Cumberland co,KY, amongst
other accounts, it shows that William Cain was compensated $89 for handling the funeral arrangements and expense.
