Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Victor H. Losch, 83, passed away at his home in Camp Hill, surrounded by his beloved family.
He was married for over 61 years to the former Eleanor J. Garman of Richfield, Pennsylvania.
He was born on Sunday, October 12, 1923 at the Locust Lane Farm in McAlisterville, Pennsylvania, and was the son of Henry O. Losch and the former Anna M. Dressler.
Victor served his country for more than 31 years and retired from the U.S. Army in 1973 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a decorated Veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and was awarded numerous honors and medals, including two Bronze Star Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Philippine Independence Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Korean Service Medal with one silver star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, the American Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal with four bronze loops. In addition, LTC Losch was awarded the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was also awarded the Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, First Class.
Victor was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Shiremanstown. He was a Mason, a member of the Shriners and Sojourners, and a member of Arlington Centennial-Glebe Lodge 81.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; his children, Karen L. Fegley of Camp Hill, Darryl V. Losch and his wife, Sally of Covington, GA, Cheryl A. Byers and her husband, Michael of Brick, New Jersey, and LTC Victor H. Losch II of Washington, DC; six grandchildren, Renee S. Fegley of Wilmington, DE, Darryl V. (Torry) Losch II of Covington, GA, Zeke I. Losch of Atlanta, GA, Courtney A. Gough, Erin L. Byers, and Caitlin J. Byers, all of Brick, NJ; and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Losch and Roston Gough. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m., in the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill. An additional one-hour viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m., on Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, immediately followed by the funeral service. Burial will full military honors will be held in Arlington National Cemetery on March 20th at 11 a.m.
