He was president of the Lobdell Car Wheel Company, of the Wilmington & Western Railroad Company, of the Masonic Hall Company and of the Farmers Bank. He was of New England ancestry, both parents coming from Massachusetts. With his wife Adeline he had ten children: Carolyn Wheeler, George Granville Jr, Maria Drew, William Wheeler, Anna Prince, Elizabeth Prince, Florence Delano, Howard White, Addie Wheeler and Herbert Drew.
