Notes for John CLAYPOOLE
John Claypoole, (1752-1817), served as second lieutenant at Germantown, where he was wounded. He sailed on the armed cruiser "Luzerne", 1780; was captured and confined in England in the Old Mill prison when news of the surrender of Cornwallis was received. He was born in Mount Holly, N. J.; died in Philadelphia.
