Notes for Arthur BARRETT

Comment: "the first settler of that name at Nottingham, took up a tract of land now including Stubbs Mill, extending southward to the line of Ross Wilson. His first cabin stood on the spot since occupied by the residence of Ruth Kirk & others. He seems not to have been a very active mbr." At the mtg held at E Nottingham MH, he req a cert for himself, wife & family to Hopewell MM, VA; an obstruction was found, but was removed after several months and his certificate was approved and signed 19- 3mo-1739 OS; Arthur Barrett (of this record) and Lydia Chambers (both of Nottingham) were rptd married by Concord MM, PA, 13-6mo-1705, they having ami 11-4mo-1705 & having been 1tm 9-5mo-1705. Arthur Barrett was at Opekon as early as 1738
