Notes for Casper Pennock Sharpless BIERMAN
Caspar S. Bierman, 53, a retired Air Force officer who managed security for the Sohio Alaska Petroleum Co., died June 26 in Anchorage.
A native of Wilmington, Col. Bierman retired from the Air Force in 1977 to join British Petroleum of Alaska, later merged with Sohio Alaska. A fighter pilot, he was credited with 237 combat missions over Vietnam and held the Silver Star, Air Medal and other decorations. At retirement, he was deputy chief of operations, Alaska Air Command.
He was a life member of the Order of Daedalians and past president of the Alaska Peace Officers Association, and he helped charter the Anchorage Crime Commission.
Surviving are his wife, Maryo; daughters, Deborah Harlan and Diane Riggleman; a son, John O.; four grandchildren; his father, John A. Bierman; a brother and a sister.
