Notes for Robert EYRE
Robert served as an apprentice merchant and accountant in England before coming to Bethel Twp. He had first gone to New Jersey. Robert became as early as 1684 the Clerk of the Twp. of Bethel in Chester (now Delaware) Co, Pennsylvania and apparently held this position for nearly 10 years. He was one of the first settlers of the Twp.
Robert purchased 150 acres from his father-in-law for his original Lease and Release, in 1704 an addtional 300 acres. He is listed on the first list of taxables in Bethel Twp. in 1683, but was not on the list in 1715.
From 1683 to 1690, Robert was the Clerk of the Chester County Courts.
